In and around Cherrapunji

First point that we stopped at was Seven Sisters Waterfalls. We had the opportunity of experiencing only audio and no video as it was entirely covered with fog. Since we need to make a lemonade when life gives us lemons, we chose to concentrate on the other options available, which is to have the famous pineapples of Meghalaya. They are utterly delicious and one shouldn’t miss them when they are here.

The next stop was at Mawsmai caves, a must visit one, one that was loved by all, kids and adults. The twists and bends in the cave are some things that are firsts for me and I loved the activity totally. There are two sets of caves and the paths are well lit in both the caves. Shoes are greatly recommended. Be sure to get your hands and clothes a little dirty as you make your way out taking support of everything around you. But there are working and well maintained taps at every attraction in Meghalaya which is quite helpful, so do not worry about getting your hands dirty.

Our lunch, Momos and Maggi were too good !

Apparently my brother’s shoe got stuck while coming out of the cave and he pulled it out. After a while, V’s shoe along with his leg got stuck. I felt very tempted to capture a video of releasing his leg and shoe but didn’t implement it feeling scared of how the reactions would be 😉. He removed his leg first and then the shoe and all of us exited. All this while, his thoughts apparently ran to the movie 127 hours 😀. Younger niece was very worried that we might get stuck in the caves. Although she enjoyed the first cave, she cried a little too in the second cave. Elder niece and daughter felt excited about the adventure like walk. V’s sister and V tried macro photography too in the cave with the lens attached to the phone. Considering all the fun and the different experience we had walking through them, I would rate this as the highlight of the trip.

After having lunch at the stalls outside, we headed towards Nohkalikai waterfalls. We got to see the water falling from a great height with full force.

The last stop for that day was Eco park that provided spectacular views with long walking paths.

We headed next to Shillong, where we had booked a home stay for the rest of the trip.
